On 1 May 2025, we were able to experience a very relaxed and emotional motorbike ride as part of Ducati’s ‘We Ride As One’ event. The tour took us from Vienna via the picturesque ‘Kalte Kuchl’, through the impressive landscape around Mariazell, Annaberg and Traisen back to Vienna. With a few photo stops, lunch and an ice cream, we successfully rounded off the short tour.
For this tour we decorated our bikes with memorial ribbons, each with a few personal words for Hannes, and in Mariazell we said goodbye to our friend. We held a minute’s silence in the church, where we also lit a candle for Hannes to remember him and keep him alive in our memories. It was a moment of gratitude, solidarity and farewell and will be a fond memory for a long time. We finished off our visit to Mariazell with Oliver reading a poem – ‘Do not stand at my grave and weep’ by Mary Elizabeth Frye (1932).
